Techniplas Schwäbisch Gmünd specializes in the optical and technical finishing of surfaces with its SICRALAN® and ELAMET® products. The SICRALAN® product family creates scratch-resistant, anti-reflective, and/or chemical-resistant surfaces on plastic components through transparent coatings. In addition to a variety of conventional coating processes, Techniplas possesses a globally unique inkjet technology that, unlike conventional painting techniques, allows components to be coated selectively according to customer specifications without the need for masking. It is suitable for use on both transparent and opaque plastics. Especially in the premium segment of the automotive industry, there is demand for black, high-gloss products with scratch-resistant surfaces produced using inkjet technology.
Another technical highlight from Techniplas is the electromagnetic shielding of electronic housings using the patented ELAMET® process.
The ELAMET® process is a coating process in which metals such as aluminum, copper, steel, or gold are deposited onto plastic surfaces in the micrometer range in high-vacuum deposition systems, depending on the application. The metal layer created on the plastic surface forms a closed, electrically conductive surface, enabling effective shielding.
The ELAMET® process can be used for all electrical devices with plastic housings that require shielding against electromagnetic interference.
