Caldic is part of a family-owned, medium-sized trading group with a total of 1,100 employees in Europe, North America, and the Asia-Pacific region. Founded in Rotterdam in 1970 by Joop van Caldenborgh, the company's headquarters remain there to this day. The company name is an acronym for the founder's name (CAL), distribution (D), and industrial chemicals (IC). Caldic enjoys a high level of acceptance among its customers as a full-service solutions provider for the global markets in the food, personal care, pharmaceutical, chemical, and industrial sectors.

At its Düsseldorf site, Caldic has its own facilities and state-of-the-art expertise for the production of formulated semi-finished products for plastic additives and modifications. Its own products include, for example, liquid semi-finished products for the targeted modification of polyamides to control their crystallinity and colorability. The company also produces special compacted additive blends, conducts blend analyses for its customers in its own laboratory, and distributes plastic additives such as antioxidants and light stabilizers, as well as polymer modifiers from renowned manufacturers. The company is increasingly focusing on sustainable solutions.

The history of the Düsseldorf site dates back 110 years to the beginnings of the company Weinstock & Siebert, which was sold to the Caldic Group in the mid-1990s. Today, 75 employees work for Caldic in Düsseldorf.
